“ This is a rare opportunity to own an 8''X10'' Valcin ceremony painting! Paintings of Voodoo Ceremony scenes are Gerard Valcin's greatest strength. High in the mountains of Haiti, a voodoo ceremony is in progress. The Loas are being summoned. A sacred red drum dominated this painting. This particular drum is called the Assotor drum and is the largest and most sacred of all Haitian drums. Gerard brings out the voice of this red drum, which is the central focus of this voodoo scene. The mambo, dressed in yellow, is holding a lit candle and a jar containing alcohol to welcome the Loas. Surrounding the scene are worshipers dressed in white. The drum is believed to be a representative of the loa. ”
