Felix Jean was born on January 1, 1930 at L'Anse-a Veau. He started working at the Centre d'Art as a handyman. Students attending classes at the Centre D’Art immediately recognized his talent and they encouraged him to become a painter. Today his works can be found in many private art collections, both in Haiti and abroad. His artwork normally sells in Sotheby's and Christies auction houses. Illustrations of his painting can be seen in Eva Pataki's book, "Haitian Painting" and John Allen Franciscus’ book, “Haiti Voodoo Kingdom To Modern Riviera”.
