About artist

Aris Charles

Aris Charles was born in Cap Haitien, Haiti. He started painting at a very early age. He was inspired to paint by the late Haitian master Philome Obin. He is listed in Eva Pataki's Haitian painting Art and Kitsch. His paintings are rare and seldom come to market.

About the work

Aris Charles takes us on a country side journey. There's a peasant going to market and a young boy squats while milking a brown and white spotted cow. Standing nearby, is a young calf sucking on his mother breast. Aris Charles treated the routine daily chore of milking in a straight forward manner.
