Decourcelle Gourgue was born on August 24, 1927 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He attended college at the St. Louis Gonzague. In 1957, he began to study painting with brother Jacques Enguerrand Gourgue, an established artist. Decourcelle’s paintings are very rare and are treasured by collectors worldwide. He has held exhibitions in Europe and at galleries in Haiti. Illustrations of Decourcelle’s work can be seen in John Allen Franciscus’ book, “Haiti Voodoo Kingdom To Modern Riviera”.
