Ulysse Dabouze born in Jeremie, Haiti. He began sculpting at a very early age. He is a master carver of historical figures in the way we can say Degas excels in portraying Ballet. He has won several awards both in Haiti and abroad for his superb work. His works are included in the permanent collections of the Mystic Seaport Museum, Connecticut and Musee d'Art Haitien du College Saint Pierre in Port-au-Prince.

“Ulysse Dabouze (Haitian, early 20th c.) Excellent, minor wear, couple small paint chips. Carved hardwood with areas of paint decoration, signed at the reverse. Excellent, minor wear, one small chip. Bust of Toussaint Louverture, carved and painted, parcel-gilt hard wood sculpture, not signed but it guaranteed to be the work of the artist. Size: 6" x 3" x 4".
