The assasination of Dessalines
Jacques-Richard Chery “The assassination of Dessalines"
This painting depicts the death of an ambush Haitian general Jean Jacques Dessalines. Dessalines was assassinated north of the capital city, Port-au-Prince, at Pont Larnage, now known as Pont-Rouge on October 17, 1806 on his way to fight the rebels. Jacques Chery has always been drawn to preserving the historical facts of Haitian history. The Haitian soldiers and generals courageously fought for the independence of Haiti and won it's freedom by defeating the French army led by the French General Napoléon Bonaparte, on January 1, 1804. History that is obligatory true to a historian is always imaginative for an artist. This painting is Oil on Masonite, signed lower right J.R Chery. We fully guarantee the authenticity of this item.
