Village Gossip
Nicholas Dreux "Village Gossip"
Painting Description:
“A very charming piece indeed…typical of Haitian village life. This painting depicts a group of women in the middle of the country road engaged in conversation. The group originates from the woman seated. As people passes by they stop the exchange greetings. This is the primary means by village gossip is communicated. This painting is on masonite cardboard. The artist paints with a razor blade; laying on the paint thickly in some spots and scraping it to transparency in others. After this, he accents some elements of the painting with the corner of the blade. The painting is wonderfully complimented with green fabric used as the background and a gold tone frame. This painting is authentic and fully guaranteed. ”
