Damballah- The Loa of Life is depicted inside a huge drum, which indicates a celebration or victory. Damballah-the god of life, fertility and wisdom is symbolized as the serpent. This god is believed to grant wishes and allow treasures to be discovered. This lower section of the painting is covered with an array of voodoo and other symbols. Common symbols in this painting are blue signifying water, black signifying death, hanging baskets symbolizing Haiti’s lushness, and natural resources, and veves symbolizing voodoo spirits.
