Toussaint Auguste, born in Leogane, Haiti in 1925. Mr. Auguste was an early member of the Centre d'Art, joining in 1946, and was one of the artists selected to paint the landmark murals in the Trinity Cathedral in 1951. He was among the early painters working at the Centre d'Art in Port-au-Prince. Considered one of the First Generation painters, examples of his work can be found in many museums including in the permanent collections of the Musee d'Art Haitien du College Saint Pierre in Port-au-Prince, Haiti , the Davenport Museum of Art in Iowa, and the Milwaukee Museum of Art.
