Menard Gilles was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. At an early age, he started his apprenticeship as a stone carver working in the workshop Ronald Laratte, one of Haiti’s foremost sculptors. Menard stone sculptures portray the beauty, sensuality and divinity of women. His talent was immediately recognized. He has exhibited in Songe bank in 96, Gallerie Galata in 98, Onart in 99 and in Germany in May 2000.
