Alix Roy
Alix Roy born March 8, 1930 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He studied art at St. Louis de Gonzague and the Louis Hall Institute. After his studies, he became more enthused about painting and with the encouragement of Luce Turnier and Maurice Borno decided to join the Centre d'Art. Price and Borno were already members of the Centre d'Art. In 1956, Roy received a scholarship to further his art studies in the United States. He is one of the few living Haitian masters residing in Haiti. His works are rare and highly valued by many private collectors. Roy has exhibited in Haiti, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and the United States. Illustrations of his painting can be seen in Gérald Alexis book, “Peintres Haïtien” , Selden Rodman’s book, “Where Art is Joy”and Mary Jose Nadal’s book, “Haitian Arts”.
